How you can stay in shape while travelling

Travelling needn’t be a reason for you missing your workouts. There are lots of options to keep you in shape while trotting across the globe nowadays. No matter if it’s a business or casual trip or if you are with family or friends, these tips can help you stay in shape and ensure you don’t end up regretting your trip!

  • You need to schedule your day while travelling too, and preferably keep your training sessions for the mornings. The chances of your missing out on your training are higher once the day starts.
  • Check the hotel, and if feasible, stay in a hotel with a gym or fibreglass swimming pool. Hit the gym or pool first thing in the morning and you will feel all refreshed and rejuvenated to handle the stress and travelling of the day.
  • If there’s no inground swimming pool or gym in the hotel, don’t fret. Take your fitness DVDs along with you and play them in the room. You can start working out the first thing you get out of bed. As long as you manage to do a few squats, burpies, pushups, crunches and shuttle runs, you’ll be able to remain fairly fit through your trip.
  • If there’s a beach nearby, you can always run to the beach and go for a swim! Or you can always run down to the nearby park do some exercises for a while take a breather, repeat and run back to the hotel.
  • Another grave mistake most travelers make is hogging at the buffet breakfast table. Though you can save money with complementary breakfasts, a healthier option is either ordering your egg white omelet to your room or taking along some protein bars and peanut butter to eat instead of the calorie-rich hotel food.
  • Try avoiding alcohol while on the go as alcohol only dissolves your resolve at maintaining a healthy regime while on holiday!
